JESUS' LIES IN THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT

The Gospel of Matthew gives us the best account of the famous Sermon on the Mount where Jesus preached to a huge Jewish crowd. This is the heart of Christian moral doctrine so many will be upset to find that its authority is dubious for Jesus told too many lies. The Sermon is at the heart of Christian hypocrisy for its teaching is contradictory. Christians always pick out the bits of the Bible that suit them in particular situations. And then they blaspheme God by saying that he is the author of the Sermon!

 

The Sermon on the Mount was spoken to simple people therefore there is no room for denying that Jesus meant what he said literally. In this sermon, Jesus forbade sexual desire, oaths, forbade standing up for yourself and your property and commanded helping your enemy though this was helping them to oppress you. He said that whoever obeyed these teachings was as one who was built on a rock - thus indicating that he meant the teachings literally for teaching you can't understand or take literally is not a rock. If that is not mental impairment what is? Fancy interpretations are brought up to avoid the horrific implications of Jesus’ teaching. It is a whitewashing job for we must obey the rule that the simplest and plainest interpretation is the correct one.

 

The Sermon is uttered along the backdrop of the orders to love God and neighbour.  Jesus taught that we must love the Lord our God with all our power and strength and that this was the greatest commandment and that loving others and ourselves was secondary (Mark 12:30, 31). Let’s translate Jesus here: Belief in God, trust in the authority of religion comes before the welfare of yourself and your loved ones and even a helpless child. It is really the theories and laws of religious leaders such as Jesus that are being put first. If religious authority is that binding who can complain when it commands evil having dressed it up as good? Religion is a delusion based on the failure or refusal to admit that to serve any god is to serve what man has made. Nobody denies that most religion is based on delusion so why can’t they admit that their own is no better?

 

If it is obvious that we need to care only about God who makes all things out of love then what does it need commanding for?  What give Jesus the right to present it is a command?  It is obvious that if a man is telling you you must love God that much and it is a command whose ego is being stoked!  His own for it is not his place.  He is plainly speaking for himself! 

 

Assertiveness means you stand up for your own rights without violating another person’s rights and expressing your needs and desires and opinions in an honest and plain way. In Christianity, the only rights you have is to be abandoned by God and sentenced to death by God and sent to Hell forever when you die. Jesus said that when you were struck on one cheek turn the other. So you are not allowed to feel any aggression. To be assertive is a sin as well for he didn’t say, “If anybody hits you on one cheek and you can’t get away, turn the other cheek. Don’t say like an assertive person would that you are going to report them to the law if they hit you again.” He would have seen assertiveness as sinfully affirming rights you don’t have and therefore as a form of aggression.
 
There is no doubt that Jesus would lose all his fans if they could see that the choice he left them was between aggression and letting people walk all over you. He would want you to take the latter course for he said to turn the other cheek. To let people walk over you is worse than aggression so Jesus gave such bad advice it might be evidence for insanity.

 

Jesus didn't say we are to respect our neighbour as ourselves but to love our neighbour as ourselves meaning we must adore our neighbour as much as ourselves. Respect our neighbour as ourselves means we can treat a person properly despite having bad feelings for them. The Christians say that Jesus in commanding such love of neighbour did not mean that we must be crazy about everybody but only that we must treat them as we wish to be treated. They lie for he said love not respect. By asking us to do the impossible and by threatening curses and Hell and eternal torment on those who naturally fail, Jesus was putting us on an eternal treadmill from which there would be no reprieve. We would be unable to think we can do anything right or to please him. And once we start thinking that about ourselves our relationships will rapidly break down. Jesus tries to force us to be good in an impossible way. His example will drive us to force our gospels and versions of them on others. And if we can't do it, that will not stop us wanting to do it.

Jesus said that anyone who insulted another should be brought before the Sanhedrin (Matthew 5:22) which contradicts his savage condemnation of the Sanhedrin’s hypocrisy and hatred of justice which he considered habitual (Matthew 23). He was disguising evil as good here in scheming to stop people getting a fair trial. It was tantamount to murder.

Jesus told the people who were there listening to the Sermon on the Mount that they were the salt of the earth and if salt loses its saltness it is fit only to be thrown out and is as worthless as the dirt under our feet for it cannot be made tasty again (Matthew 5:13). He is saying that leopards cannot change their spots – a favourite cynical adage. Yet he commanded forgiveness no matter how bad a person was. He told us that sinners are dirt so he did not believe in the dignity of the person. How could anybody that tells you to forgive everybody believe in your dignity for that will sometimes lead to serious harm being done to you by making you care less about looking out for yourself?

Jesus mentioned the fact that it suns and rains upon the just and the unjust to show that God loved both (Matthew 5:45). He taught that God worked in mysterious ways so he believed it showed no such thing. God would sometimes have to bless evildoers even if he hated them for his purpose.

When Jesus said that love is sacrifice or doing for God and others what you would rather not do (Matthew 5:47) and did not devote all his time to helping sinners – he spent most of his life in obscurity and did not start preaching until after the baptism in the Jordan - he showed that he did not really believe this. Working for others and helping them is a form of prayer and still he went off to pray alone. Work prayer is better than voice prayer for it is harder and more sincere. Jesus was a hypocrite.

Jesus told people to make peace with their accusers so that they will not be put in prison (Matthew 5:25,26). He said that concern for yourself was a sin and here he allows it. He was the one that commanded that we must as first priority love God with all our powers with totality and second priority love our neighbour as ourselves. So loving God is more important than loving yourself or others meaning that concern for yourself only is a sin. A person who loved God alone would avoid prison only to please God and not for his own sake. Christians say he would have meant, “Don’t go to jail when God does not want it.” But we don’t know what God is up to. He permits suffering. And it is most likely Jesus had guilty people in mind who deserved it.

Jesus said that repentance alone is no use. If one is giving something to God one has to make up with one’s enemy first as best one can and then make the offering (Matthew 5:24). So, God will not accept you unless you prove that you mean what you say when you ask for mercy. But Jesus pardoned people without seeing what their actions would be. This verse proves the hypocrisy of Bible-readers for they pardon those who have not showed they should be pardoned. There is something vulgar in persons getting mercy without first having made up for their crimes. It is blasphemy to do damage and then get mercy merely by asking for it.

This tells us that God wants nothing from a sinner for all a sinner does is sinful when he could repent before he does it. But Jesus praised people for being good even though they could have done more noble things. Yet again, this is a hypocritical denial that good is doing what is best.

Jesus said that it was wrong to think that many prayers were stronger than one prayer for God knows what we need (Matthew 6:7). God has promised to hear prayer and since prayer is not magic one sincere prayer suffices. You need only pray once in your life and make that prayer submission to the will of God. Yet he denied this later when he told his disciples to pray for this and that like when he made the tedious Our Father or the Lord’s Prayer telling them to say it. He did regard prayers as spells though he would have backed the Old Testament teaching that spells were all of the powers of evil. That tells us an awful lot about the kind of person he was.

Jesus said that we must not give what is holy to dogs for they will desecrate it (Matthew 7:6). The gospel is not to be preached to evil people. This is a denial of his own doctrine that God has the power to melt hardened hearts. He preached to Jews who hated his message. It is interesting that Roman priests will give communion, traditionally, the body of Christ, to public sinners in defiance of what Jesus commanded. The hypocrites condemn people who give babies to abusers and teach that the eucharistic body of Jesus is worth more than any baby.

 

Jesus assures his hearers that the plants of the field are arrayed better than Solomon and that no bird drops dead without Heavenly Father knowing about it. He paints a rosy picture about the pointlessness of worry. But in those brutal times worry was sane and inevitable. He was clearly trying to give the people a placebo and put a rosy filter over their perception of reality. Realistically, humans who have a good life are a tiny minority when you consider how many people have lived in horror and suffered and got maimed and died young. The picture gets terrible when you include animal suffering. He endorsed gratitude but there is something warped about one person thanking the king for giving him bread when he knows thousands are going without though his majesty can feed them too. There is no real thanking where there is no possibility of thinking, "I thank you for you could do wrong and often do terrible things to others and for that I do not thank you but condemn you." Thanking and the possibility of not thanking but attacking the giver go together. Thanking means recognising the person could hurt or neglect you but does not. It is not about you and your thanking is making it about you. Thank him for your smug arrogance? Go ahead!

Jesus said that if we keep asking God we will receive what we want (Matthew 7:7,8). This denies that God is good for one prayer would do if he were.

 

Jesus said that a man who looks at a woman with lust commits adultery with her in his mind and therefore sins (Matthew 5:28). He didn’t say married woman. He meant that looking at any woman with desire was a sin of adultery. What he meant was, if you allow yourself to desire to use a woman for sex, naturally you cannot care if she is married or not so you are no better than an adulterer. The Churches following his teaching hold that having wilful sexual desires or sexual fantasies about someone you are not married to is a sin.
 
This bans talking about sex for talking about it means you will be having pictures of it in your unconscious if not your conscious. There is no such thing as talking about sex and not thinking about it. You may not even be aware of it. This clearly indicates that if Jesus lived then he was mad for the consequences of not mentioning sex are horrendous as we know from the huge numbers of children raped and molested by religious and clergy and how not talking about it kept this going on for centuries.

Jesus’ teaching was harmful. He would have known that but he did not care. A man who knows he is fallible but claims to be infallible is a man capable of anything. He said he was the only way to God (John 14).

Jesus said that the road to damnation was smooth while the road to Heaven is rocky and few find it (Matthew 7:13-14). If sincerity and repentance alone could save then this would be untrue. Everybody would have found the road although they would not all travel it. This implies that unless you believe in Jesus explicitly and sincerely you have no hope of salvation. It is also encouraging us to see most people as enemies of God and as actors who masquerade as good people. Sincere people should not be punished for being sincere. So much for his loving his enemies.

No greater hatred a man can have than to hope that those who do not adore him will go to Hell. Jesus taught that those who die outside of his circle will suffer there forever.

 

A man who is not disturbed by how a child might respond when thinking his daddy could go to Hell cannot expect us to think that his doctrine of Hell is in any way loving.
