A SURVEY OF VIOLENT COMMANDS FROM GOD IN THE KORAN

"Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war...I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim," Ayatollah Khomeini.

From the Koran the Muslim scripture which Muslims regards as God's infallible word:

The Apostles We sent before you were but men whom We inspired with revelations and with scriptures. Ask the People of the Book, if you doubt this (Sura 16:43).

Say: People of the Book, you will attain nothing until you observe the Torah and the Gospel and that which is revealed to you from your Lord. That which is revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase the wickedness and unbelief of many among them. But do not grieve for the unbelievers (Sura 5:68).

After them, We sent forth Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming the Torah already revealed, and gave him the Gospel, in which there is guidance and light, corroborating what was revealed before it in the Torah, a guide and an admonition to the righteous. Therefore let those who follow the Gospel judge according to what God has revealed therein. Evil-doers are those that do not base their judgments on God’s revelations (Sura 5:46-47).

And from those who say, "We are Christians" We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of that of which they were reminded. So We caused among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. And Allah is going to inform them about what they used to do. (Sura 5:14)

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors. (Sura 5:32)

[The horrific thing about this verse is that religious do-gooders who are not even Muslim use it to lie that Islam is anti-violence.  Nuns I am looking at you!   Religion does more than just harm but helps other religion at times to harm too.  The verse says murder is very serious but allowed if the other person is murdering or spreading mischief.  It is deliberately vague about the mischief so that it opens the door if you want to think you should slay heretics. The verse is an admission about how bad violence is and how it must be done nevertheless.

It comes from the Talmud or Jewish tradition.  “Man was created alone to teach you that anyone who destroys a single soul of Israel – scripture considers it as though he has destroyed the whole world. Anyone who preserves a single soul of Israel – scripture considers it as though he has preserved the entire world.” Sanhedrin 37a.  Adam then was made alone by God to make a point.  Eve came later.  Scripture does not teach what it says but it seems to mean the teaching can be inferred from the Adam story.

If the Qur'an is expanding Jewish tradition to say such tradition is the word of God at least in parts then the Issa figure in the Qur'an is not Jesus who is roundly condemned in Jewish tradition.]

Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment (Sura 5:33)

The people of the book are the Jews and the Christians. Islam expects them to follow their own scriptures if they have not got the Koran. If they have then they are to join Islam. Islam regards those scriptures as true and from God.

See Sura 5:15: O People of the Scripture, there has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking much. There has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book.

The Koran takes its laws about murdering "criminals" from the Bible and reaffirms them! God in the Bible demands that adulterers and those who put faith in idols must be put to death and Jesus even told the Jews off for breaking the law that people who curse their parents must be killed. No religion that examines how a good God can allow evil in the universe and argues he is to be praised has any right to when it refuses to look at the lies and evil endorsed by its God in the scriptures first. Evil has to be taken extremely seriously. What right have you to say a suffering baby is part of God's plan when you will never know what it is like for that baby? It is not about your wish to believe its a plan but about the baby.

Some Muslims say, "The Holy Koran has verses that are just context free. That is why we should not take the violent texts as endorsing violence today." But why not? If verses are out of context, then surely you can say, "It is up to me then when they are out of context or don't care about context to decide if I will honour them with violence or not." To use the context excuse to try and justify the presence of such terrible texts is to honour violence and to whitewash. You don't do that if you truly abhor violence.

No criticism of the Koran or Islam's disgusting acclaim and approval of these violent and evil texts is fair or valid without criticising Christianity and Judaism as well. ISIS's crimes are in a sense the crimes of the latter duo as well.

It is dishonest of this article to judge Muslims by their behaviour rather than by what their faith says they should do. All religions have their heretics and those who won't toe the line.

British prime minister Teresa May claimed that Islam does not believe in forced conversion for the Koran says that there must be no compulsion in religion.

The quote from the Muslim holy book is always taken out of context by politically correct fantasists who distort it to make it look like a command from God endorsing religious freedom.

It never claims to be a command and you can read it as expressing a hope that compulsion will never be necessary even it it is. The Koran is clear that forcing is fine for God will make the forced to be true believers and can do it.

"There is no compulsion in religion -- the right way is indeed clearly distinct from error. So whoever disbelieves in the devil and believes in God, he indeed lays hold on the firmest handle which shall never break. And God is Hearing, Knowing."

The text says that it is obvious that Islam is the one correct faith. The text does not forbid forced conversion - it merely says there is no such thing for whoever reads the Koran sees that it is pure truth. It only says that nobody can be forced not that nobody should be forced. It talks about a state of affairs that is all. You cannot force a child to agree that 2 and 2 are 4 because they will see that for themselves. The meaning of the text is something like that. Many religions have claimed to be teaching facts that anybody can see to be true and on that basis forced themselves on people while denying that they engage in forced conversion. You will suffer at the hands of the law and society if you deny certain facts. If a religion claims to be a collection of facts - Jesus promised that Christians would have knowledge of the truth meaning faith is a form of knowledge - then it is necessarily a threat to freedom.

Some thought the verse was abrogated by Surah 9:5 which opposes religious tolerance except for good Muslims.

If the verse only says nobody can be a believer if they are forced that does not mean it is against violence. Catholicism said the same thing. It argued that people should convert to Catholicism freely but that those who won't must be killed. The intention was to protect the faith of the converts not to force people to believe.

Quran 109:1-6 does not preach religious tolerance.  It only comments on how Muslims do not worship what non-Muslims worship and how the non-Muslims will not worship what Muslims worship.  It notes how religious people can be stubborn and refuse to care about truth enough to change their beliefs.  In fact it states there is no worship of God in reality except in Islam.  Nothing foments religious hatred more than believers who won't update their beliefs and end up promoting error and false claims.

Sura 3:85-87 goes, Say, ‘We believe in Allah and in that which has been revealed to us, and that which was revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Tribes, and that which was given to Moses and Jesus and other Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit.’ And whoso seeks a religion other than Islam, it shall not be accepted from him, and in the life to come he shall be among the losers. How shall Allah guide a people who have disbelieved after believing and who had borne witness that the Messenger was true and to whom clear proofs had come? And Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.

Sura 8:54,55 is about those who refuse to believe in Islam, "[Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They denied the signs of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people of Pharaoh. And all [of them] were wrongdoers. Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah are those who have disbelieved, and they will not [ever] believe."

Muslims of peace are not really Muslims of peace when so much violence and religious fanaticism had to happen in order for them to have an Islam to be part of today.  They are either uninformed or liars if they really think the religion is all about peace.
