EXAMPLES OF VIOLENT SCRIPTURES

Liberal Christians read the Bible God's endorsement of extreme violence and waffle about there being layers of interpretation and how complex it all is.  That is rubbish.  It is only an excuse for saying the texts are true but not literally true.  Politicians should start war mongering and say that their speeches are not to be taken literally and the lovely peaceful meaning is there behind the horrible words.  Liberals insult your intelligence and defend evil texts.  If interpretation is that complex then the Bible is really effectively useless.  And you can use the complicated interpretation waffle to get around peaceful texts too so that you can advocate terrible things.  There can be no conclusive interpretation so the liberals should not complain if some liberals start calling for holy war.  Liberals are not always peace and love.  Plainly even if there is a complex interpretation, who would want it?  It is easier to read the text as it stands.  Most people will naturally do that.  The writers would have known that too.  And it does not matter how complex a process led to the Bible texts being formed that does not imply a complex interpretation is being called for.  It has nothing to do with it.  Liberal Christians are just liars.

Cherry picking is not an option. The Bible never tells us it is okay to contradict it. Progressive Christians turn what they want to believe into the word of God and end up being immature relativists. There is no greater bigot than the one whose own word is put out there as the word of God.

Christians who believe in the Old Testament and New Testament admit that these books were not all written at the one time. For centuries, they believe that Israel had only five books, the first five books of the Bible. But up to then there was more abuse from God and threats and commands and hardly anything about love. They have to admit that if that is fine then it would have been fine if God churned out a New Testament just as terrible. The Koran likewise commands evil in the name of God more often than it commands good.

The Bible and the Koran are full of episodes where one reason was given for destroying people. Sura 3:56, 149-152 says that refusing to believe in Islam is enough. The Bible Jesus simply attacked workers in the temple for they were conning the people. He did not say, “Okay this will cause reform and calculate possible results a and b and c.” Conditions should not be assumed when they are not mentioned and when the text does not need you to assume them. If a text says Jesus rioted in rage that is all that is claimed to have happened. Don't try to invent other reasons why he might have acted that way. They are only speculation and you have no right to use guesses to excuse behaviour that looks bad.

God is alleged to have declared in and by the Bible, which he supposedly wrote, that a man lying with a man is an abomination and they have nobody to blame but themselves for being stoned to death. There are many others in the line up for barbaric execution such as adulterers and kidnappers and those who gather sticks on the sabbath. That is just naming a few of the offences. And what about the genocide God commanded? And what about males getting their foreskins cut off as babies when they could not speak for themselves and when there was a risk of infection in those disease-ridden perilous times?

Jesus took responsibility for writing this bloodletting material for he said he agreed with the Old Testament and that it was God's infallible word. Jesus if he claimed to be God claimed to be the divine author.

Also Jesus said that the Old Testament would not be done away but toughened up and that whoever relaxed its rules would be cursed in the kingdom of Heaven. He never ever said the rules were wrong. There is no evidence that they were only temporary laws and that Jesus did away with them. If he let them fall into disuse that is not doing away with them.

It is well known that the Bible and the Koran and the Book of Mormon claim to be the Word of God. They claim to be authored by God. The fact that believers know of the violence and evil commanded by God in those books and stay in their religions and even venerate these books is bewildering and disturbing. One horrendous example is how Mormons justify the murder under the direction of the Holy Spirit of a man called Laban.

FairMormon has no problem with God commanding such a thing.  Look it up.

This murder is approved by God in the Book of Mormon and God commissioned it. Their justification is so bad that it is not worth refuting. Another way such evil is trivialised is that the religion bombards you with some good teachings and good logic to stop you feeling that the error is serious enough to warrant tossing the Book of Mormon in the fire and getting your name off the religion's books. Lots of religions, notably Catholicism, do the same thing. A religion that approves of a man, Jesus, deliberately walking into crucifixion because he thinks God is talking to him and it is God's will shouldn't even exist.

The Bible says Jesus strongly advocated violence following his resurrection.

"To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations— that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery’ —just as I have received authority from my Father. I will also give that one the morning star. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches." Revelation 2:26-28.

Revelation 12:5
She gave birth to a son, a male child, who "will rule all the nations with an iron scepter." And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne.

Revelation 19:15
Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.

It is fashionable for modern religion to condemn religious terrorism.  People don't like saying it but Jesus himself was a terrorist for his attack on the workers at the Temple was just random and mad. And Jesus regarded terrorist Moses who is a Catholic saint as a great man and a great authority. He even summoned him up in a vision! And Jesus did not live up to his own teaching on love and whoever tells you to love everybody is really telling you to love nobody. I respect Islam for not hiding its violent side but Christianity is benign hostility and nobody takes responsibility when it erupts into terrorism. A shameless evildoer is better than one that is crafty and manipulative. At least a diagnosis of the problem is possible and doable then!
